I am very pleased to have the opportunity to preside over the Opening Ceremony of the First National Nursing Convention today.
Pursuant to Public Health Minister’s report, we all realize that the Nurses’ Association, Ministry of Public Health, and all the nurses present here have made very meaningful memorable events to the nursing profession.  It is appropriate that you all have collaboratively organized Nursing Convention all over the country in order to revive a proper standardized academic for the progress of nursing care and disease prevention.

Nursing is Known to be useful to the country and strongly in need of enhancement and support like any other fields of science in view of the fact that providing treatment, nursing, and disease prevention must closely be related and equally thrive, and depend on one another to bring about good success.
Ones who voluntarily choose the nursing profession deserve praise because they use not only their physical strength but also their mental strength vigorously to perform work.  You should, at all times, be conscious of your duties for which you are responsible, and perform your tasks courageously and patiently in addition to being honest and merciful.  All these qualities are absolutely necessary for nurses.
I wish to thank the government, Asia Foundation, UNICEF and privately owned organizations, and all of you for organizing this Convention.  The outcome of the Convention will help the nurses attended here to publicize knowledge principle in the nursing service; and those in other fields would understand more of nursing activities for mutual charity.  I wish all participants happiness and prosperity; and I would like to ask you all to help sustain the nursing profession and maintain high ideal of the nursing profession for the well-being of people of all sexes,  ages and cultural backgrounds in all settings.  May all organizations supporting this Convention be blessed with increasing prosperity.
I would like to ask you all to help publicize further the virtue of the nursing profession.
The auspicious moment has now arrived, may I declare open the Convention; and I wish this Convention all success.
